Yes, Alethea adheres to PIPA standards. We require verbal consent for images, similar to traditional referrals, ensuring patient privacy.
Alethea includes optional AI-assisted decision-support features for selected clinical workflows. These features are intended to support healthcare professionals and do not replace clinician judgment or make autonomous clinical decisions. Alethea is actively reviewing the regulatory classification and regulatory pathway for these AI-assisted features.
For British Columbia, Alethea provides a platform Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA), supporting documentation, and implementation guidance to assist healthcare organizations with their own privacy review process. As the implementing organization is responsible for its own PIA, Alethea does not submit a single platform PIA directly to the BC Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner (OIPC).

There’s no conflict of interest. Alethea Plus users are reimbursed for their eConsults, with billing managed through AH codes and guidelines. This system is designed to acknowledge the value of eConsults for both physicians and patients, and we cover the cost of the digital otoscope and facilitate access to care without financial barriers.

eConsultation is optional. You can also use Alethea’s platform to access the digital otoscope. If you need specialized advice, the eConsultation feature allows for direct, timely consultations, bypassing the long wait times often associated with traditional in-person consultations. It helps our consulting team triage cases, expedite care, and facilitate further investigations.

Alethea accommodates all types of eConsults, whether or not you have an image. While including a photo or video can enhance the consultation, you can also submit eConsults without images if they are not applicable to your case.
Yes, you can attach additional reports and images to your eConsult. The platform allows you to upload relevant files, including those taken within the platform or other diagnostic tests and reports.
eConsults and responses from specialists can be sent via eFax to your clinic. This allows you to easily upload the information into the patient’s chart.
