Dr. David Goodhart has been an Interventional Cardiologist in Calgary for 21 years. He is a member of the Division of Cardiology (now the Libin Cardiovascular Institute), and the Foothills Interventional Cardiology Service, and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Calgary. While maintaining AHS privileges, David has decided to focus now on outpatient Cardiology.
David went to medical school at the University of Alberta. He did a rotating internship, followed by internal medicine residency in Akron, Ohio. His general cardiology training was at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, followed by interventional cardiology training at the University Of Calgary. He spent 4 years on the medical staff at McMaster University before returning to Calgary in 2001. He is internationally acknowledged as a leader in clinical applications of coronary physiology. His many administrative roles included medical site leader at Foothills hospital, and department director of invasive and interventional cardiology.
David developed, instituted and directed the first "virtual clinic" in Canada in 2006. He developed systems to improve access to cardiac care, including a central referral process. He established triage protocols and helped institute subspecialty cardiology clinics at the Libin Cardiovascular Institute.
