Alethea is an eConsult and digital diagnostic platform that helps Family Physicians to get specialist advice in one day instead of the months or years of a traditional referral. We are dedicated to creating web applications that offer exceptional user experiences and genuinely enhance the practices of our Family Physicians and Specialists.
The Role
We are growing and looking for a rock-star developer for our development team.We are a startup, seeking a junior to intermediate developer that can work as part of a team, to solve problems and deliver results. As part of the development team you will be responsible for architecting, building, and maintaining our various platforms on mobile and web, which are already making a profound impact on thousands of family doctors and patients.
Your Responsibilities:
- Maintain and develop our backend using Node.js, Firebase services, and PostgreSQL (bullet 2 update)
- Work across both NoSQL and relational data models, designing schemas, writing and optimizing queries, and managing migrations with Drizzle ORM
- Own your changes end to end through new CI/CD pipelines, including automated tests, review, and deploys
Who You Are
- Comfortable with both NoSQL and relational databases, including document modelling, writing SQL, and thinking through schema design. Experience with Firestore, PostgreSQL, or a TypeScript ORM such as Drizzle or Prisma is a plus
- Experience working in cloud environments (Firebase, GCP, AWS, or similar)
- Effective with AI coding assistants, and thoughtful about when to trust them and when to verify
