Basia Okoniewska

Dr. Okoniewska is a Family and Sports Medicine Physician in Calgary at Surge Sports Medicine (also Vivo Cura), respondso Sport Medicine eConsults through Alethea.

Dr. Okoniewska completed her MD and Family Medicine residency at the University of Calgary and obtained her Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine through the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM). She has a comprehensive scope of practice for all ages, from acute musculoskeletal injuries (such as sprains, strains, dislocations and post fracture rehabilitation) to chronic injuries (osteoarthritis, rotator cuff, tennis/golfers elbow, FAI). She can provide ongoing comprehensive care for non surgical musculoskeletal problems.

Dr. Okoniewska was downhill ski racer, competing on the international FIS and NoRAM circuits, while also pursing competitive horseback riding, soccer and sailing. She has provided a spectrum of event coverage from large events such as the Men's World Cup Downhill Skiing, international speed skating and biathlon competitions, to high school football for adolescent athletes.
