
Dr. Zavitz completed his undergraduate degree in Biology, Ph.D. in Molecular Pathology, Virology, and Inflammation (MIVI), and Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pathology and Molecular Medicine at McMaster University. He completed his MD and his Royal College residency in Vascular Surgery at the University of Toronto, along with a second postdoctoral fellowship in Advanced Diagnostics – Cardiology at the University Health Network. Prior to his recruitment to Calgary, he was a staff Vascular Surgeon at Hamilton Health Sciences and assistant professor of surgery at McMaster University.
He serves as an attending vascular surgeon, based at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary Alberta, and an assistant professor of surgery at the Cumming School of Medicine of the University of Calgary, where he is the Director of Surgical Clerkship, and the Program Director for the Royal College Surgical Foundations program. His vascular surgery practice encompasses all aspects of vascular and endovascular surgery.
