Dr. Humberto Vigil is a functional and reconstructive urologist based at Rockyview General Hospital and affiliated with the University of Calgary. He specializes in restoring urinary function and quality of life for patients with complex urological conditions, with particular expertise in post-prostatectomy incontinence, neurogenic bladder, urinary diversion, and cancer survivorship.
Dr. Vigil completed his undergraduate training at McMaster University, followed by residency in Urology at the University of Ottawa, and fellowship training in Functional and Reconstructive Urology at the University of Toronto. He also earned a Master’s in Quality Improvement & Patient Safety (MSc-QIPS) at the University of Toronto, which informs his approach to care by emphasizing efficiency, safety, and patient-centred outcomes. Dr. Vigil worked as a staff urologist at The Ottawa Hospital for six years, managing a broad base of general urology in addition to his subspecialty practice, before relocating to Calgary.
In his subspecialty practice, Dr. Vigil treats a range of functional and reconstructive conditions related to neurological disease, the sequelae of cancer surgery, trauma, and radiation. He has particular expertise in the management of post-prostatectomy urinary leakage, offering advanced surgical techniques. He also provides both medical and surgical interventions for neurogenic bladder.
