Dr. Kathryn Watson is a fellowship-trained general internal medicine specialist and clinical pharmacologist. Dr. Watson completed medical school at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, and initially started residency training in anesthesiology at the University of Calgary. After three years of anesthesiology she switched training programs and completed an internal medicine residency, followed by a two year fellowship in general internal medicine. During the final year of her fellowship Dr. Watson undertook additional training in hypertension and clinical pharmacology, and has since completed a Master of Science degree in pharmacology and toxicology from Michigan State University.
Dr. Watson has a comprehensive scope of practice, and works primarily at Rockyview General Hospital in both inpatient and outpatient settings where she is also involved in teaching students, residents and fellows. Dr. Watson is the current site lead for the Department of Medicine at Rockyview Hospital, she sits on the patient safety and quality assurance committee, and has specific interests in resistant hypertension, drug-drug interactions, pharmacogenomics and adverse drug reactions.
