Matt is a full time sport medicine physician in Canmore, Alberta. He works in a multidisciplinary care model approaching wholistic health for athletes. In addition to treating competitive athletes, he takes great joy in keeping all people moving to their fullest capacity. An active lifestyle is a cornerstone in a well lived life. Matt has provided surgical assist services for many years in both sport and arthroplasty orthopedics, so has an understanding of both sides of sport medical care. For many years Matt also provided emergency care in rural and urban settings, and as such has a familiar with managing the very early stages of injury.

Matt’s practice focus is increasingly on regenerative injection based therapies and pain relief to allow resumption of normal functioning. He provides ultrasound guided and fluoroscopically guided injections for conditions throughout the body.

Matt attended both undergraduate training and medical school at the University of Saskatchewan. His residency training was in the Red Deer University of Alberta stream. After this he developed his sport medicine practice at the Saskatoon Orthopedic and Sport Medicine Centre from 2010-2015 before moving to the Bow Valley.

When not working, Matt enjoys riding a board, particularly in deep powder, or riding a bike, preferably down steep hills. He has extensive knowledge of personal training, himself being a bit of a gym rat in the shoulder season. He has a growing family, and is involved in numerous boards and committees at the AMA, as a school trustee for Christ the Redeemer Catholic School District, and as a volunteer at his local church.
