Dr. Burns is an interventional pain physician and anesthesia specialist practicing at ChangePain Medical and Allied Health Clinic in Burnaby, British Columbia. Originally from St. Petersburg, Florida, he earned his medical degree with honours from University College Dublin before completing his anesthesia residency at New York Medical College, where he served as Chief Resident during his final year.
Dr. Burns specializes in the management of chronic pain conditions, including osteoarthritis, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), headaches, and facial pain, using both interventional procedures and evidence-based medical therapies. His clinical philosophy focuses on improving patients' overall function and quality of life rather than pain scores alone, leading to a broader interest in longevity medicine, metabolic health, and hormone optimization, including testosterone replacement therapy for men and menopause hormone therapy for women.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Burns is deeply committed to medical education and serves as Director of Fellowship, where he enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping train the next generation of pain physicians.
