The following document will outline how to add patient photos to your Ava patient chart, using the Alethea Photos tool.
To upload photos to your Ava Patient chart, first login to the Alethea Mobile app or Online Portal. Enter the Gallery. If you have not already taken any photos using the Alethea mobile app or online portal, you can learn how to do so in the following links:
Once you are in your gallery in either the online portal or mobile app, select the images you would like to have included in your Ava patient charts by clicking on “Select” and then clicking the images you would like to include:
Once you have selected your images, click “Upload to Ava”. The photos will now be available in Alethea Photos in your Ava Patient Chart:
To access Alethea Photos in your patient chart, click the “Camera Icon” on the bottom right in “Photos”:
This will bring you to the Alethea Photos screen. You will be able to see all of the photos you have added to Ava and have not yet added to a patient chart here. To add the photos to the patient chart you are currently in, click “Attach to “X’s” Chart.
You can click the “Trash” icon to delete the photo from Alethea Photos in Ava. The photo will still be available in your Alethea online portal Gallery.
If you would like to include the photos in a different patient chart, simply exit from Alethea Photos, and head to the patient chart you would like to add the photo to. Re-enter Alethea photos, and attach the photo to the appropriate patient chart.

To begin sending an eConsult using Alethea from Ava, open the chart for the patient you would like to send an eConsult for. Next, click the small box with the arrow at the top right of “Consults”:
When you click this box, you will be asked if you would like to use the Alethea eConsult service. Click “Select”:
Next, click “Save” to launch Alethea:
Click “Open Alethea”:
You will then be taken to the Alethea login page. If you have saved your credentials, you will automatically be logged in. If you have not saved your credentials, you will need to login with your existing email and password.
Once you are signed in, you will be brought to the Alethea eConsult screen. Alethea will fetch the data from your Ava patient chart to populate the consult for you:
Once the data is populated, you will need to continue filling out the form. Select the Specialty and Subsite for the eConsult. Next, use the Specialist drop-down menu to choose which consult you would like to send the eConsult to:
Continue to fill out any blank fields included in the eConsult form that you have data for:
The Medical history for the patient will automatically be pulled from the patient chart and imported into the Medical History field. You can add / remove notes in this field:
Next, select any images from your Alethea Gallery that you would like to include in the eConsult. Simply click the image on the right hand side of the screen to have it included in the eConsult.
Lastly, click “Submit” to have your eConsult sent to the specialist. You will see your consult request in the “Consults” section of your Ava patient chart:
You will also be able to see a copy of your eConsult in the “Secure Messaging” centre in Alethea:
Click on the eConsult in your inbox to review the eConsult you sent. When the Specialist responds, you will be able to see the note in the “Consults” section of your patient chart, and on the right hand side of the open eConsult in your Alethea "Secure Messaging” centre.
If you have any follow-up questions for the specialist, you can use the message bubble at the bottom right hand side of your open eConsult. You do not need to send a brand new eConsult to follow-up:
